Eleanor Gudger keeps it in the family as she emerges victorious in a record-breaking event at Nottingham.

Party Poker pro Eleanor Gudger fought off over 2,100 challengers at the Dusk-Till-Dawn Casino to land the WPT500 event and in doing so secured her biggest career score to date of £140,000.

Eleanor spoke to Great British Poker shortly after her success; “It feels amazing; when you are in a field of 2000+ entries the win seems a long way off so to be the last one standing is a very special feeling.”

Leicester born Eleanor only started playing poker professionally 18 months ago and follows in the footsteps of her father John who won a WPT event in Milton Keynes last December.

Poker players learning the game from their parents is far from uncommon, but it is the reverse for Eleanor who taught her father how to play shortly after turning professional and it is clear there is an element of competition between the two.

She admits that it is a good feeling to have re asserted her dominance as the best player in the Gudger family, after her six-figure scoop; “Well I taught him to play, so it’s nice to make sure I have the absolute bragging rights over the dinner table”.

Eleanor defeated Matthew Noonan heads-up in the early hours of Monday morning in what proved to be a record breaking event, not only for Dusk-Till-Dawn, but also for the World Poker Tour.

It was the largest field ever assembled for a £500 buy-in event staged in Europe and Gudger agreed that UK poker is going from strength to strength, “The choice of live events and the number of satellites is improving all the time”.
